FINAL YEAR MINOR PROJECT

The Duchess of Malfi is a 1612 Jacobean revenge tragedy written by English playwright John Webster. For my minor project in the final year of my Design for Stage and Screen degree, I chose to recreate this play. My concept for The Duchess of Malfi was to have an almost painterly approach to the makeup designs. I wanted there to be a very clear family resemblance between the Duchess and Ferdinand, with a clear distinction to the character of Antonio. I designed and applied the hair and makeup looks to each of these characters, as well as designing and making the costumes from thrifted fabrics.
